I personally love non-wedding related stamps on wedding invitations. I think I am a little jaded because I see that darn wedding cake stamp on evvvvverrrythinnnnng. But, seriously, it's boring! Most of the time, the cake doesn't even go with the style of invitation you chose.
Here is some advice when choosing stamps:
- Pick a color that coordinates or contrasts well with your invitation
- Figure out how big or small you want the stamps to be. Vintage stamps you have much more variety of sizes/
- Figure out exactly how much postage you will need, it could be a lot more or less than you think!
-Look around a bit, you will be shocked at what pretty stamps the post office will actually have. Go to www.USPS.com and search the stamps. USPS will have stamps for the face value, whereas purchasing them on third party sites like Zazzle will charge you extra.
-If you can't find any you like on USPS, try Etsy! Search your color + unused vintage stamps. Most sellers are small business owners and will take the time to customize a collection to fit your needs.
And of course, a little inspiration to get you started...
